Translate function now available

I noticed that there are quite a few non-english speaking folks who access this site. I know how I feel when I go and visit some of these awesome French, Spanish, Polish, Italian... painter blogs - I dont understand a word :D
On a polish site I found a function called "Google Translate" - and though the results are sometimes hillarious - it helped me to understand the content of the blog. 

You find the function right under the "Subscribe" button on the right side. 


And while your at it... Hitting that subscribe button is a cool feature, too!

Contrast - Black and White to see the light!

I read a lot of books and articles on miniature painting. I know a lot of things - in theory. 
For example, I now about how to exaggerate light and shadows on a miniature in order to create enough contrast on a miniature. But yesterday I learned something new. I learned about overall contrast of a miniature


Ich habe ne Menge Bücher und Artikel zur Miniaturenbemalung gelesen. Ich weiß ne Menge Zeug - in der Theorie.
Zum Beispiel weiß ich, dass man Licht und Schatten bei einer Mini übertreiben muss um genügend Kontrast in die Miniatur zu bekommen. Aber gestern habe ich was neues gelernt. Ich habe vom Kontrast der Gesamtminiatur gehört.

Painting mistakes - DOUBLE Eradication!

"You have been eradicated!" 

Not only Arnold loved eradicating stuff, we love it too! Particularly when it comes to mistakes while painting miniatures. 
Nicht nur Arnold hatte Spaß dabei, Sachen auszulöschen, wir mögen es auch! Insbesondere wenn es um Fehler geht, die wir beim Bemalen von Miniaturen machen. 

How to find a color scheme for your miniatures

As I am busy getting back into the hobby, I lack a couple of things. For example the ability to think of a great color scheme. The same is true for many beginners to the hobby. 

Ich bin kräftig dabei, wieder ins Hobby zurückzufinden. Mir fehlt im Moment so einiges - zum Beispiel die Fähigkeit mir ein cooles Farbschema auszudenken. Das Gleiche gilt sicherlich auch für viele Anfänger im Hobby. 

So lets just copy one! :)

Greetings beings!

After successfully launching the blog yesterday I am back to my full-time painting activity. Thanks to Badsmiles help it even starts to look fancy! (Way more to come though, so stay tuned!)

I have lived in Japan for the last two years and just moved back to Germany. In Japan I have not painted anything at all. Naturally, I am a bit "rusty". So I started a few "practice" minatures last week, to get back into the swing of things.
