Greetings y'all!

Crazy, crazy weeks... We just hit the 200 subscriber barrier a few days ago and I already have to plan for the 300 subscriber giveaway! How awesome is that? Almost feels that the blog is giveaways only :D But as you know that is not the case... Last exciting event I reported from was the Games Day UK 2012 and the Massive Voodoo Workshop in Hamburg. The next exciting event will be the Hussar 2012 in Poland this weekend.

Review: Massive Voodoo Workshop with Roman Lappat

This might very well be a scene from my life. In the last 6 years I have visited some 15 or so workshops with some of the best miniature painters of our time. 

It all started back in 2006 when I visited a workshop by Jeremie Bonamant Teboul (Jeremie Bonamant Teboul, CMON), the well known French artist who spent the last two years riding his bike through Africa. Followed by (multiple) workshops with Christian "Bestienmeister" Reckert (Blog, CMON), Georg "GeOrc" Damm (CMON), Sascha "Goatman" Buczek, Ben "White Rabbit" Komets (CMON), Matt Cexwish (CMON), Stephan "Derwish" Rath (website/blog, CMON), Raffa "Picster" Pica (blog, CMON). Some of the workshops I did up to three times... Crazy me... On top of all that I went to dozens of painter meetings and other events throughout the years. 

2012 Newbold Challenge Creative Event - Cash Prizes!

Hello everyone!

Today I would like to draw your attention to an online competition run by Ian Newbold. It is an event that is not limited to miniatures as such - but also open to entries such as art dolls, artwork, jewelcraft, painted miniature, painted scale model, eye catching photograph or sculpture and the like.

What is special about this event is, that the Newbold family will donate £2 per entry up to a maximum of £150 to the charity Children with Cancer. Not only that, but the winners will receive cash prizes of £100, £50 and £25 respectively.

You can enter up to three pieces of work - the overall rules can be found here. You can already see the first entries here (19 so far).

The seven members of the Newbold Family will choose the entry they like the most - its a fun event for a very good cause!

Preview: Hussar 2012 Warsaw, Poland

Greetings everyone! 

Here a quick little preview of what is going on this weekend on masterminis.net. 

On Friday, I will head out to Warsaw, Poland. Its a 5:30 hour trainride from central station Berlin. I always find train rides very relaxing - plus you get to see quite a bit during the ride.  As I have never been to Poland before, I am really looking forward to it. I will go in on Friday, attend the painting competition on Saturday and then go back on Sunday, I think I will have some time to visit one or two tourist spots as well... Yay!

The Hussar painting competition will be held for the 3rd time this year. 

Some of my favorite painters will attend the Hussar 2012. I am really looking forward to meeting them :) 

As with other events in the past (GD Germany, GD UK), you can expect tons of pictures and maybe a video or two from the event.

Hier eine kurze Vorschau zu dem, was dieses Wochenende auf masterminis.net los sein wird. 

Freitag gehts nach Warschau, Polen. Es ist eine 5:30 Stunden Bahnfahrt vom Hauptbahnhof Berlin aus. Ich finde Bahnfahrten immer recht entspannend - und man bekommt ne Menge zu sehen. Da ich noch nie in Polen war, freue ich mich wirklich auf die Reise. Am Freitag gehts hin, Samstag werde ich an dem Wettbewerb teilnehmen und dann am Sonntag gehts auch schon wieder zurück. Ich denke, ich werde genug Zeit haben, mir das eine oder andere touristische Highlight anzusehen ;) Yay!

Der Hussar Malwettbewerb wird übrigens dieses Jahr zum dritten Mal ausgetragen. 

Ich freue mich insbesondere darauf, einige meiner Lieblingsmaler auf dem Hussar 2012 kennenlernen zu können. 

Wie bei bisherigen Events auch (GD Deutschland, GD Großbritannien) könnt ihr euch jetzt schon auf eine Menge Fotos und vielleicht den einen oder anderen Videobeitrag freuen.

Aries / Widder Be happy, you've got reason to celebrate! Saturn will finally leave Arie's house of couples, lifting a three-year fog.  Things that you felt you could never do will be easy now. You finally understand AND can execute painting techniques.  Your color is grey.  You should practice NMM a lot!	Taurus / Stier Venus, Venus... always Venus.  Your lovelife gets in the way of your painting routine.  But hey, all the other nerds are jealous because you get to score a lot. So, what gives? ;)  Your color stays red.  Don't forget protection!
Gemini / Zwillinge You should make sure that your posture is healthy. Extended painting sessions can take their toll on your back. Maybe raising your table to straighten back and neck would be beneficial... Your color is green. You should definitely paint something organic.	Cancer / Krebs A rather hectic month with loads of stress. You keep putting off that one paintjob and should really finish it...  October will give you the strength to work really hard and help you finish all your projects, tying up a lot of lose ends.  Your color is purple and gold. Maybe some Emperor's Children?
Leo / Löwe You are full of emotions. October will be intense, sensual, romantic. The opposition Mars will set against Jupiter - this could lead to rushed decisions, extravagant projects and risky painting techniques.
